When searching for a new vehicle at your Nissan dealer, you may have noticed they are equipped with Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 technologies, otherwise known as driver assistance systems. These systems are meant to enhance your safety while driving. Although many of these systems come standard with all Nissan vehicles, some are available options.

Equipment Enhancements and Parking
The equipment enhancements classified as driving assistance start with auto high beams that automatically dip down to low beams whenever they sense an oncoming vehicle. The low tire pressure warning system alerts you when a tire has suboptimal air pressure. It can also tell you the tire pressure of all four tires individually. The tire fill assist gives you a signal of a beep of the horn whenever you are filling your tires and the correct pressure is reached.
To assist you in parking, rear and front parking sensors warn the driver if the vehicle is too close or about to collide with an object during low-speed maneuvers such as parking. The 360-degree Surround View uses four cameras to create a composite view of your vehicle from above. You can select split-screen close-ups of the front, rear, and curbside views to help you maneuver smoothly into a parking space.
Safe Driving Assistance
Intelligent Forward Collision Warning watches two cars ahead of you, and when it detects a sudden deceleration, it warns you to slow down. Brake Assist will help reduce stopping distances during emergencies. Rear Auto Braking watches directly behind you and warns you of large stationary items you might not see. Rear Cross Traffic Alert warns you of vehicles it detects creeping up on you from either side.
Automatic emergency braking monitors the speed and distance between you and the car in front of you, letting you know if you need to slow down. It can also automatically engage the brakes to help avoid a frontal collision. Pedestrian detection detects a pedestrian in the crosswalk, and it can stop you immediately if you fail to brake.
Pro Pilot Assist 1.1
This system helps you navigate stop-and-go traffic and helps keep you centered in your lane. If it detects a speed limit sign, it can automatically adjust its set speed. Adaptive cruise control is an intelligent cruise control that uses lasers and/or radar to maintain a preset following distance behind another vehicle, automatically braking or accelerating as required. Driver Attention Alert monitors the driver for drowsiness or inattention and will flash a warning.
To truly appreciate these driver assist systems, you must experience them in person at your local Nissan dealer. Contact Ed Martin Nissan of Fishers in Fishers, IN, and schedule your test drive today.
