Thanks to its robust towing capacity, strong engine, and comfortable interior, the 2020 Nissan Pathfinder is an ideal choice for families in the market for a three-row sport utility vehicle. This year’s model remains unchanged from last year, carrying over all the great features that made the 2019 version a success.
An Array of Standard Features
Even the base Pathfinder S comes well-equipped with a variety of features. You’ll love the three-zone climate control, reclining/sliding second-row seat, 8-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, six-speaker sound system, satellite radio, CD player, dual USB ports, reverse parking sensors, and automatic emergency braking.
The next-level SV trim gives you even more features, including a blind-spot warning system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. Moving up to the SL trim adds a hands-free liftgate, leather upholstery, a navigation system, and heated rear and front seats.
Finally, the top-of-the-line Platinum version includes a panoramic sunroof, a power-adjustable steering wheel, and ventilated front seats. Additional premium features include a Bose audio system and an optional rear-seat entertainment system with 8-inch headrest displays.
Every Pathfinder, regardless of trim, comes with a hefty 3.5-liter V-6 engine paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission and standard front-wheel drive (although all-wheel drive is optional). Thanks to this setup, the Pathfinder produces a whopping 284 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque and can tow up to 6,000 pounds.
A Roomy Interior
You simply can’t beat the interior comfort the 2020 Pathfinder provides. The comfortable seats and upscale finishes create a pleasant atmosphere that’s as modern as it is functional. Families will appreciate the numerous USB ports, cup holders, and seating configurations that help make road trips less stressful. The seats themselves are airy and spacious for this class, giving each family member plenty of cushioning.
While the legroom in the second row is generous, tall adults will find the third row a bit cramped. Still, thanks to the second-row seats’ ability to flip and slide, getting the kids and cargo in and out of the back has never been easier. You can even expand the already generous cargo area by folding the second- and third-row seats down when necessary.
Decent Fuel Economy
With its V-6 engine and strong acceleration, you might not expect the 2020 Pathfinder to be the most fuel-efficient option, but it actually enjoys a decent fuel economy for its class. The new Pathfinder is rated at 20 miles per gallon in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. In real-world testing, the all-wheel-drive SUV hit 22 mpg on a 200-mile highway trip.
These numbers may not sound impressive compared to a smaller sedan’s fuel economy, but for a three-row midsize SUV with a V-6 engine, it’s an impressive rating that’s sure to help you save at the pump.
With so much going for it, it’s no wonder the 2020 Nissan Pathfinder is such a popular vehicle for families this year. Stop by Ed Martin Nissan of Fishers when you’re ready to take it for a spin.
