Fitness in Indianapolis: Four Great Local Ways to Stay in Shape
Indianapolis, IN, is an amazing city for staying in shape all year round. There are plenty of parks, trails, and workout studios to help you stay active. Whether you're looking for a boot camp or something more relaxed, Indy has a fitness plan for you!

Join a Gym

One of the best ways to stay in shape is by joining a gym. Gyms offer one-on-one training, weights, and machines to help you get in shape. Their coaches and athletic trainers can help you set goals and reach your full potential. There are several gyms located throughout Indy, so finding one that fits your needs should be easy. Broad Ripple Fit Club on Westfield Blvd. focuses on individualized training that uses your body weight, dumbells, and other strategies to help you build strength and flexibility. They even have a program for kids and teens designed to help them build great habits.

Take a Group Class

If you're looking for a structured workout, taking a class is a great option. Group classes are offered at many gyms and community centers. They are usually led by certified instructors and follow a specific workout routine. Some popular classes you'll find include Pilates, spin class, and kickboxing. FIM on Washington St is a great place to work out in town. This popular studio offers a variety of classes, including yoga, dance cardio, Zumba, and a weight loss boot camp. Rachel, the owner, also provides Zoom classes for the ultimate convenience. Fans rave about their great instructors and the family-like atmosphere.

Go for a Run or Walk

One of the simplest ways to stay in shape is by going for a run. Indianapolis has many trails and parks that are perfect for a workout. You can also find plenty of running groups in the city if you're looking for some company. If you don't feel like running, walking is also a great way to exercise, and there are several great walking trails in our area. Skiles Test Nature Park Trail is an easy/intermediate trail that is perfect for a workout. The trailhead starts with an ascent for the first 1/4 mile, so it may be a challenging trek for some. It's located on the east side of Indianapolis and is excellent for hikers, bike riders, and nature lovers.

Reduce Stress With Yoga

Yoga is a great way to manage stress and get in shape, and there are many studios located throughout Indianapolis. Most yoga studios offer a range of classes, so you don't have to be an expert yogi to participate. Kompose Yoga, a fantastic studio located on Winthrop Ave., offers a full schedule of classes for all skill levels. Some of the benefits of yoga include enhanced flexibility, improved strength, and stress reduction. If you're looking for a challenging workout, hot yoga classes are a good option. The Hot Room, located downtown, provides hot yoga and hot pilates classes. Members talk about the therapeutic benefits of heat, along with the calories you burn. So there you have it! These are just a few ways to stay in shape in our town, so try out a few activities and see which ones work best for you. Time for New Tires? Visit Your Nissan Dealer Today

Tires are just as important to your safety on the road as your brakes. All it takes is a single puncture or moment of lost traction to potentially cause an accident. With this in mind, always watch out for the following indications of worn-down or damaged tires. If you notice any of these issues, it's a good idea to visit your local Nissan dealer for new tires as soon as you can. more Tread Depth Nears 2/32 of an Inch When your tires are brand new, the tread depth will be around 10/32 or 11/32 of an inch. Over time, this tread depth diminishes, until it becomes too shallow to safely hold traction on normal road surfaces. In the state of Indiana, the minimum legal tread depth is 2/32 of an inch for private vehicles and 4/32 of an inch for larger commercial vehicles. Make sure you replace your tires before the tread depth passes this limit. During winter, you may want to replace your tires when they reach about 5/32 of an inch as deeper treads are required to grip slippery winter roads. Overly Uneven Tire Tread Wear Tires tend to wear down at an uneven rate because there's an uneven distribution of weight and pressure at the front and rear of most cars. The tire movements during steering also result in a specific pattern of tread wear, and sometimes misaligned wheels or suspension can also cause uneven wear. Regular tire rotation will usually keep your tires from becoming too unbalanced. If you ever forget to have your tires rotated, they may become overly uneven, reducing your car's performance and potentially causing damage to other connected car parts. If your tires are very uneven, you may need to have all four replaced. Significant Cuts or Cracks in the Rubber Any cuts or cracks in the rubber of your tires that are deep enough to see the underlying layer put the tire at risk of blowing out. Shallow cracks or cuts that are over an inch in length, or reach around the edge of the tire, are also a danger to you on the road. Signs of Extensive Dry Rot Tires exposed to extremes in the weather or temperatures can sometimes develop dry rot. This rots and dries out the rubber, causing the tires to become brittle and dangerous to drive on. Dry rot usually makes the color of tire rubber fade from black to gray. If you think your tires may be worn out or damaged, visit Ed Martin Nissan of Fishers to have them replaced.
