If you live around Fishers or Indianapolis and you’re looking for something new to do, you’re in luck! There are plenty of things to do in and around the area, so you don’t have to go far to get out of your normal routine. Whether you’re looking for adrenaline-fueled thrills or more relaxing outings, Indianapolis and Fishers, IN have something for you. To help you out, we’ve made a list of some of the best local attractions in the area.
1. Indiana State Fairgrounds
It’s almost impossible not to include the iconic Indiana State Fairgrounds in our list. Since its first opening in 1892, the property has hosted countless events on its 250 acres of land. Currently, it hosts over 400 events each year! There truly is no limit to what you’ll find if you visit. The fairgrounds hosts gun shows, horse shows, professional soccer matches, 4-wheel off-road jamborees, and charity walks, among other events.
If you’re in the area during summer, you absolutely cannot miss the Indiana State Fair which is held on the fairground. There are rodeos, horse competitions, and even bumper cars! We recommend that you try some of the deep-fried treats concocted by some of the vendors. They’re delicious, but don’t overdo it!
2. Urban Air Adventure Park
What’s better than letting out your inner child on a trampoline? And at Urban Air Adventure Park there are enough trampolines for everyone. With an entire floor covered in trampolines and many walls as well, it might be hard to resist getting a few bounces in even if you don’t want to!
There are more attractions for children at the Urban Air Adventure Park than there are for adults, so we recommend making this a family trip. For kids, there is a tube playground, a warrior course, spinning bumper cars, a ropes course, and even dodgeball! Even the most rambunctious children will be tired after all of that!
3. Great Times Fun Park
We continue our list with another destination that’s perfect for the whole family. Great Times Fun Park has plenty to entertain everyone for an entire day, and then some! Their 22,000-square-foot building includes a game room with more than 120 different arcade games and retro video games. At each game, guests can win tickets that are redeemable for great prizes. The go-carts provide an opportunity for high-octane excitement, while miniature golf is a more relaxing option.
4. Indianapolis Zoo
How can a list like this be complete without the world-famous Indianapolis Zoo! This is a favorite attraction for both older and younger guests, and it speaks for itself. Seeing all the different exotic animals like lions, tigers, and polar bears is an incredible experience for everyone.
